Biography:
Bing Lang received his M.D. (1995) and Ph.D. (2003) at the Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an, China. He then conducted his postdoctoral research at the department of Translational Neuroscience, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, since 2005. During this time, he helped to create and characterize two transgenic mouse lines, PAC1 and Disc1tr mice. PAC1 transgenic mouse is the first GPCR-transgenic mice which show phenotypes of human congenital hydrocephalus. Disc1tr mice are created to mimic the balanced chromosome translocation discovered in the big Scottish Schizophrenia family members. Disc1tr mice display a spectrum of abnormalities resembling human schizophrenia which have been confirmed by a number of Institutions including Pfizer Neuroscience Unit, University of Glasgow, University of Bristol and University of Freiburg. It sits as the sole animal model in a £4M pan-Scotland investment during 2011-2013 by Pfizer. Dr. Lang was promoted to a Group Leader/Senior Research Fellow at University of Aberdeen in 2014.
