Dr. Madsen Beau Rochars, MD, MPH is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services Research, Management and Policy at the College of Public Health and Health Professions. In Haiti, he is appointed by the Dean of School of Medicine and Pharmacy, Port-au-Prince to be part of the research team of this faculty. Born and raised in Haiti, he had completed his doctoral degree in School of Medicine and Pharmacy in Haiti. Dr Beau de Rochars started the residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology to switch to Public health. He had traveled all over Haiti when conducting the mapping of Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) where he spent 8 years working as Program Director, a program funded by the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA. Now, the LF program is nationally approaching the elimination of LF in Haiti. Dr Beau De Rochars is instrumental in the success of the first LF treatment in Haiti. Currently, Dr. Beau De Rochars coordinates research activities of the UF funded field BSL-3 laboratory located in Gressier, Haiti. This lab is an important tool in identifying and containing outbreaks and setting up surveillance systems for various diseases prevalent in Haiti such as vector borne, water borne, airborne etc... With his large experience in public health in Haiti, conducting many epidemiologic research studies, as author of many articles in peer review journal and, his knowledge of public health priorities in Haiti, he has experience, motivation and dedication to play a significant role to facilitate the current proposed study.
