Ana Faustino is Master in Veterinary Medicine by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and PhD student of Veterinary Sciences at the same institution. The animal models of chemically-induced mammary cancer, tumoral angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis, and ultrasonography are her mains areas of interest. She was in an externship in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Ghent University for four months. She is funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRH/BD/102099/2014). The results of her works were published in several formats: one dissertation; 23 papers in ISI journals; 28 abstracts in ISI journals; 6 papers in international journals with referee; 57 publications in meetings proceedings, 33 of them in international meetings; 19 oral communications, 8 of them in international meetings; 50 poster communications, 30 of them in international meetings; and two didactic books). She has collaborated as reviewer in several journals (reviewer of 40 papers). She has experience in university teaching and supervising of graduate and post- graduate students.
Research Interest
The scientific interests are centered on veterinary medicine, namely in cancer experimental animal models and pharmacology:
a) chemical induction of tumours in laboratory animals (mammary gland and urinary bladder) and the evaluation of different treatments (anti-inflammatory drugs and physical exercise) on tumors' development;
b) study of the tumor angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis;
c) assessment of tumors vascularization by ultrasonography.
