I graduated with a DVM degree at Tehran University and worked in a mixed veterinary practice for five years before completion of my PhD at James Cook University (JCU, Australia) in the field of Microbiology (virology). After one year of post-doctoral research at JCU, I worked as an Assistant and Associate Prof. at National Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for 10 years mainly involved in research also coordinated and taught into Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering subjects. During this time, I was involved in a number of research projects including molecular virology, gene cloning and protein expression in prokaryote and eukaryotic cells. Then I worked as a research fellow at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences at Melbourne University for four years on development of molecular diagnostic tests and genotyping of poultry pathogens particularly avian Mycoplasmas. I joined the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Charles Sturt University (CSU) as senior lecturer in 2012 and coordinate and teach into Intensive Animal Health and Production, Animal Biotechnology and five other subjects. I am a member of CSU Biosafety Committee and member of a number of editorial boards for international journals as well as professional organisations.
Research Interest
My research interests are molecular diagnosis and genotyping of veterinary pathogens and molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases.
