Biography:
Dr. Boukli is a Professor in the department of microbiology and immunology and is the Director of the Biomedical Proteomics Facility at the Universidad central del Caribe, School of Medicine. Dr. Boukli got her Doctoral degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, where she worked in early molecular signaling events such as the type three secretion pathway in Rhyzobium bacteria.
Dr. Boukli did her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri where she gained more expertise in the technology of proteomics. She joined the Universidad Central Del Caribe as assistant professor at (UCC) in 2003, where she organized a high-throughput Proteomic Core Facility. Dr. Boukli’s research uses proteomics approach in the detection of biomarkers in HIV, drug and alcohol of abuse, cancer, Multiple Sclerosis with Vitamin D deficiency, and the involvement of endoplasmic reticulum stress in cell apoptosis. She is currently working on Proteomic biomarkers of several of these diseases. Dr. Boukli has numerous peer-review articles and NIH funded grants on these and related topics.
Research Interest: Proteomic biomarkers of several of these diseases.
